Pikey Peak Trek
Pikey Peak trail is the newly opened trekking route in lower Khumbu region, combination of Great Himalayas east to west which offers dramatic exploration of Everest. The trail follows the less crowded area from Jiri, Chaulakharka, Ngaur till reach to Pikey hill. From the Pikey peak, one can see the various spectacular mountains over 8,000 meters including Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Lhotse, Manaslu, Annapurna and many other snow covered peaks. The peak is popular for its breathtaking sunrise and sunset views and one can take pleasure in the magnificent sight of the peaks beyond the Kathmandu valley to the plains along with lots of Himalayan range.

Detail Itinerary of Pikey peak Treks
Day 01: Kathmandu Arrival
Namaste and welcome to Nepal. Upon your arrival, we will greeted by a representative from Big Sky Treks and Expeditions. Our staff stay with Group leader's name display board at the arrival gate and transfer to hotel. After check in hotel, you will be free for your own activities such as a taking shower or rest at the hotel. After that we will discuss about the next day trip and explore city (It is depends on your arrival time )
Day 02: Kathmandu Valley City Tour
After breakfast, according to your interest we will organize Kathmandu city tour, which are historical and spiritual Place in Kathmandu. Some of these landmarks are consider the World Heritage historical Sites such as Durbar Square (Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar square), the sacred Hindu's temple Pashupatinath, ancient religious architecture Swayambhunath known as "Monkey Temple", the world largest Buddhists shrine Boudhanath. After finish city tour to hotel we will discuss about trek and rest of the time you could use for travelling around the Thamel and shopping of needed equipment and other necessaries.
Day 03: Fly to Phaplu (2470m) from Kathmandu & Trek to Salleri (2390m )
From Kathmandu, we will take a flight to Phaplu which takes approximately around 35 minutes. After landing at Phaplu we will start our trek to Salleri where we can wander around the busy local market and make visits to fascinating monasteries such as Chewang Monastery.
Day 04: Trek from Salleri to Ghunsa (2250m)
After Breakfast we will follow the trail that passes through several cultural and traditional villages inhabited by Tamang, Magar and Sherpa tribe communities of Nepal. During the trek we will have good views of surrounding mountains and beautiful landscapes. We will continue our trekking until we arrive at Ghunsa.
Day 05 : Trek from Ghunsa to Pattale (2840m )
Today we will trek on a moderate trail that passes through several monasteries and beautifully painted mani walls. At Kerung we will make visit to some of the ancient monasteries and take a look at the Buddhist stupa. Along our trekking route we will get chance to interact with local peoples mainly with Tamang, Magar and Sherpa community backgrounds. We will trek until we arrive at Pattale.
Day 06 : Trek from Pattale to Jhapre (2820m )
From Pattale we will trek exploring the rich flora and fauna of the region. The area is rich with wild orchids offering trekkers an awesome feeling for trekkers while trekking. Our further trekking passes through additional monasteries and Buddhist stupas. After arriving at Jhapre, we will spend some time watching the traditional and cultural local performance in Jhapre which is definitely one of the best ways to understand the culture of the region.
Day 07 : Trek from Jhapre to Pikey peak (4065m)
Leaving Jhapre we will follow the trail that heads higher up into the alpine vegetation. Gradually ascending we will trek through monasteries dating back to hundreds of years, Buddhist stupas and mani walls. We will continue to trek through several yak herding open fields with good views of surrounding environment. We will camp at a good camping site near the base camp of Pikey peak.
Day 08 : Trek from Pikey peak to Junbesi (2700m )
Early morning, trail starts steep switch back uphill until reaching Pikey Peak (4065m) which takes about an hour. The unobstructed Sunrise view over the Himalayan range and the spectacular views of mountains including Mt. Everest, Number Chuli, Thamserku, Kangtega, Khatang, Karyoling to the north, Kanchenjunga to the east, Manaslu, Dhaulagiri, Gaurishankar, Dorje Lakpa, Langtang to the west. Then trek goes downhill in the gully stone trail for few hours and enter to the Rhododendron and Pine forest until Jase Bhanjyang (3550m) and it takes about 2 hours. Then trail stays on the ridge with up and down to arrive Lamjura (3530m) which takes about 2 hours. You can stop for lunch here. The trail goes long descent to the valley through fir and rhododendron forests until reaching Traktor and trail stays level walking to Junbesi (2680m) passing several mani walls and stone chhortens. It takes 2 and half hours. The Number Chuli to the north just looming high above the village. You may visit old monastery in the village with exploring the village to know their culture and way of life.
Day 09 : Excursion Thupten Choling Monastery (3100m) and trek back to Junbesi
Morning after breakfast, you can hike to Thupten Choling Gompa (2920m) for round trip 3 hours. The trail goes along Junbesi Khola with gentle climbing up hill. The Gompa was founded in 19th Century and practiced by Tibetan Buddhism. Then same way back to Junbesi. You may enjoy the meditation with local nuns and monks in the Monastery and explore the village.
Day 10 : Trek from Junbesi to Phaplu (2470m )
From Junbesi we will start our trek follow the trail that is an easy downhill walking . This is the last day of our trek, therefore we will take it easy and try to enjoy every bit of our trek
Day 11 : Fly or drive from Phaplu to Kathmandu.
Fly from Phaplu to Kathmandu which takes about 35 minutes or drive to Kathmandu which takes around 9 Hours
Day 12 : Leisure day in Kathmandu
It's also spare day in case of bad weather in Phaplu . Remember, there are high chances of cancelling flights because of weather condition in Phaplu . You have option to stroll around the local tourist market in Kathmandu to observe the living style of local people in Kathmandu valley. You can observe the traditional houses, arts and crafts, local people selling clothes, fruits and vegetable around Indrachook and Ashanon located on the North Part of the Kathmandu Durbar Square.
Today is last day of the nepal trip for this time we celebrate Farewell dinner in local nepali cultural restaurant .
Day 13 : Fly Back to Home according to your flight schedule
We will drop you to the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) to assist you for your final departure to your home or alternatively the next destination.
